Results: Honolulu & Maui Contacted on 2mtrs with QRP HT. Signal paths to target locations confirmed. Access to Statewide Inter-Island 2 meter Emergency Communications Network was made from Kailua, Oahu to the Island of Maui's mountain-top repeater.
The May 28th "Weapons of Mass Destruction" Drill was a good opportunity to listen for HealthComm member stations in Honolulu on 70cm and 2 meters from the Castle Medical Center rooftop in Kailua. A great deal was learned during the 10:00 to 12:00 Noon survey under sunny skies. Greg Greenwood made radio reception survey tests to aid in the establishment of a HealthComm VHF/UHF Amateur Radio station to connect Windwoard Oahu to the existing Honolulu Hospital Emergency Communications System.
HealthComm Net Control, Charlie Lum Kee was very helpful in listening for Greg's transmissions through the 147.22 repeater in Honolulu. He also provided the 2mtr repeater and 70cm simplex and repeater frequencies for pre-programming of the test radio equipment.
The conditions ranged from very good, to terrible, dependant on the presence of local signals and intermod from the many radio signals in the area and the direction the test antenna was pointed.
